McFillin & Partners has a registered team, ‘Ziggy Stairdust’ that will be participating in the climb for cancer on the 28th May 2017.
Our team consists of four awesome individuals, Casey Walker, Brock D’Arcy, Daniel Graham & Roderick Ooge who will be participating in the stair climb. We appreciate them taking time out of busy lives to help support cancer research.
Cancer is a leading cause of death in Australia, accounting for roughly three in every 10 deaths. There are a number of treatments for cancer and themost common is chemotherapy.
Chemotherapy uses drugs to kill cancer cells which rapidly divide. Unfortunately this means chemotherapy kills healthy cells as well as cancer cells and can cause side-effects which can damage a person’s stem cells in their bone marrow. Bone marrow regenerates blood and the immune system so patients treated with chemotherapy are left vulnerable to infection.
At the Mater a team of researchers have discovered a breakthrough that could reduce the suffering and recovery time for chemotherapy patients. This research has been so successful that they have now started clinical trials on leukemia patients.
By donating to this worthy cause you are helping to fund research projects like the, ‘Making chemotherapy safer project,’ to find new ways to reduce the side-effects of chemotherapy and making it a more safer treatment for individuals fighting cancer.
It would be great if you could please show your support for this wonderful cause by making a donation to our team fundraising page. To make a donation and show your support please click on the link below:
